Hundreds of people in Britain have been fitted with gold braces, and more and more patients are now keeping them after they have been removed so they can take them home and sell them to gold dealers.

Gold reached a high of $1226 (£757) an ounce earlier this month, and scrap gold dealers are said to be offering up to £100 for a set of braces.
