South Africa Mining Output Up 4.8% in July; Gold Down

South African mining production rose 4.8 percent in July from a year earlier as a decline in gold output was countered by gains in other minerals.
Gold production dropped 7.6 percent in the month, while output of other minerals climbed 6.7 percent, Statistics South Africa said in a report on its Web Site today. The value of mineral sales in June dropped 34.8 percent to 19.5 billion rand ($2.6 billion), it said.
