14 October 2009 Wall Street Journal
December gold futures are expected to open floor trading in New York around $10 an ounce higher Tuesday, based on electronic activity ahead of the pit session at the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. December silver is expected to be 18 cents stronger.
"Concerns regarding the dollar and rising oil prices seem to be the impetus for gold's new record highs today," said a research note from bullion dealer GoldCore.
Comex December gold hit a fresh record high of $1,069.70 an ounce for a most-active contract. Nearby October gold set a front-month Comex record high of $1,068.40.
