Gold surges to record close; silver hits 30-month high (GoldCore in Dow Jones Marketwatch)

Gold futures settled at a record high Tuesday on increased demand for precious metals, including palladium and silver, as traders sold the U.S. dollar and sought safety in bullion.

"Technically silver looks very well and may challenge the 2008 record daily close of $20.81 an ounce" in the coming days, analysts at GoldCore said in a note.
