Gold steadies as safe haven demand underpins

Gold steadied on Monday as better physical demand and underlying uncertainty over the global economic recovery kept investors keen on safe haven assets despite the more optimistic tone in the broader markets. Asian stocks touched one-month highs on Monday after the latest U.S. jobs data soothed worries about a second recession, but oil fell on ongoing doubt that supplies would drain in the face of tepid economic growth.
