Gold hit a record high on Thursday, U.S. silver futures jumped and aluminium hit an almost three year peak as the dollar languished near its weakest since 2008 after the Federal Reserve pledged to retain an accommodating monetary stance.

Commodities from aluminium and oil to corn and zinc rallied after the dollar index , a measure of greenback's strength against a basket of currencies, dipped a three-year low after the U.S. Fed signalled on Wednesday no rush to reverse low interest rates.
