Gold down for first time in seven sessions

A stronger dollar denied gold its 12th record high for the month, but the metal Thursday managed to settle above $1,300 an ounce with barely a scratch to its bull run.
Gold ended up around 5% for September and the third quarter, though those gains paled beside steep rallies in copper and silver.
