Gold futures fell for the first time in three days as a rebounding dollar eroded the appeal of the metal as an alternative investment.

The greenback climbed as much as 0.5 percent against a basket of six major currencies as the U.S. economy showed more signs of a recovery. Gold has gained 25 percent in the past year as the dollar declined 6.6 percent.
