Asians hedge with equities (and gold)

More Asian investors are using equities, rather than gold or inflation-linked bonds, to hedge their portfolios against inflation, according to Barclays Capital’s annual Wealth Management Survey of the Asia-Pacific region.
About three-quarters of the 129 wealth managers surveyed said their clients were making some use of equities as an inflation hedge. Just over half of respondents said their investors were holding gold for this purpose.
