Financial Analyst of the Year 2006
GoldCore's Mark O'Byrne has been Awarded the Moneymate and The Investor Magazine Financial Analyst of the Year. Other nominations include Robbie Kelleher of Davy Stockbrokers, Robert Eason of Goodbody Stockbrokers and Dan McLaughlin of Bank of Ireland.
The Investor Magazine has selected the cream of Ireland's financial sector in it's shortlist for eleven awards in the Moneymate and Investor Magazine Awards 2006. The winners were announced at a lunch ceremony today at the Burlington Hotel, Dublin.
The finalists were chosen after judges reviewed entries from top financial institutions throughout the country. The shortlist includes newcomers to the market competing with well established companies for the prestigious awards, which aim to acknowledge and reward the Irish Financial Services Sector.
This year the judging panel is made up of both financial journalists and industry experts, providing a varied wealth of knowledge and expertise.
The panel of judges included Dr Clare McAndrew, editor of The Investor Magazine, Jill Kerby, personal finance expert who writes for the Sunday Times and Eamon Quinn, the business editor of the Sunday Business Post.
The judges representing the panel of financial industry experts were Harry Cassidy of Custom House Capital , Padraic Whelan of Deloitte, Liam Ryan of PKF Ryan Glennon, Michael Dowling of Broker CRM and Adrian Daly of Adviser Plus. "Entries were very competitive this year, with entrants being assessed on a variety of merits including innovation, value for money, transparency and customer service. The standard was extremely high and is testament to the quality of financial services that are currently on offer in the Irish marketplace" said Dr Clare McAndrew, editor of The Investor Magazine. The volume of entries for the awards was at its highest ever this year, with the new categories proving to be especially popular among entrants. "As the market continues to thrive, there is a definite appetite out there for good quality financial products and services to support that sector" commented Dr McAndrew. "It is important that the awards reward institutions that are demonstrating best practise in their field and who are doing an exemplary job", she added.
Stephen Flood of GoldCore said, "We were happy to be nominated alongside Robert Eason, Robbie Kelleher and Dan McLaughlin and genuinely didn't think our company could win the award. Considering the calibre of the other nominees, we are delighted and greatly honoured to have been awarded the Moneymate and The Investor Magazine Financial Analyst of the Year and hope our analysis continues to educate and enlighten the financial community as to the importance of a prudent evaluation of risk and the merits of diversification."
